What is a vertical roller mill rocker arm? In a vertical roller mill, the rocker arm is the core connecting and force-transmitting component between the grinding roller and the hydraulic pressure system. It functions as a “mechanical arm” that transfers grinding force and performs adjustment functions. It mainly consists of the upper rocker arm, lower rocker arm, rocker arm shaft, bearings, and bearing housings. The upper rocker arm is used to mount the grinding roller, while the lower rocker arm connects to the hydraulic system. For the rocker arm, strong wear resistance and high strength are essential qualities to prevent breakage during use, which could disrupt production continuity.
Grinding Force Transmitting: It transfers the immense thrust generated by the hydraulic system to the grinding roller, pressing it tightly against the material layer on the grinding table.
Grinding Roller Assembly Supporting: It serves as the load-bearing pivot for the grinding roller device, bearing the reaction force, vibrations, and impact loads during the grinding process.
Grinding Roller Lifting & Lowering: During startup, shutdown, or maintenance, the hydraulic system controls the rocker arm to raise and lower the grinding roller, facilitating no-load startup and maintenance.
Angle Adjustment Participating: In certain models, by adjusting the support point or length of the rocker arm, the relative angle between the grinding roller and the grinding table can be fine-tuned to optimize the grinding path.

The rocker arm of a vertical mill is a large and heavy steel casting or welded steel plate structure, and its structural design requires extremely high stiffness and strength. The main components include:
Arm Body: Typically I-beam shaped, with internal reinforcement ribs to ensure minimal deformation when subjected to large bending moments. It is generally made of ZG270-500 cast steel or Q345B high-strength low-alloy structural steel welded together.
Front Connection End: This part is used to mount the grinding roller bearing housing and is hinged to the grinding roller assembly through a large pin or bolt. It typically integrates grease or oil pipelines leading to the grinding roller bearings for lubrication.
Rear Connection End: It is hinged to the piston rod of the hydraulic cylinder through a joint bearing or spherical pad. This design allows the rocker arm to swing within a certain range, adapting to changes in the grinding table and material layer.
Pivot Shaft: The middle part of the rocker arm is connected to the main frame of the vertical mill via a large rocker arm shaft. This shaft serves as the pivot point for the swinging motion of the rocker arm.

AGICO Rocker Arm Advantages
Digital Pre-simulation
We use CAE systems to simulate the casting process from multiple dimensions, accurately predicting defects such as shrinkage and porosity. This allows us to achieve a dimensional match rate of ≥99.5%, ensuring zero-defect castings.
Integrated Precision Machining
Our workshop is equipped with large CNC machines such as an 8-meter vertical lathe and a 10-meter gear hobbing machine, implementing IT8-level precision control. We schedule production based on demand to ensure timely delivery.
Stringent Quality Control System
Our products are ISO9001 certified and meet international UT/MT Level I non-destructive testing standards. The surface accuracy error is ≤0.01mm, effectively preventing defective products from being released.
High-quality Internal & External Features
We are equipped with LF refining furnaces and VD vacuum degassing furnaces to ensure the internal quality of the castings. In addition, our cast steel components have high dimensional accuracy, with surface roughness reaching 12.5Ra.
Intelligent Heat Treatment Process
The natural gas temperature control system is paired with normalizing + tempering processes, combined with quenching and tempering, to enhance the surface hardness and impact toughness of the cast steel components, extending their service life by 30%.
Full-process Composition Control
We employ German-imported spectrometers for three levels of testing on raw materials, molten steel, and finished products. Combined with argon-blowing homogenization technology and temperature-controlled pouring, we ensure the precise compliance of material composition.
